Vanino-Magadan line delivers various containerized cargoes to Magadan. Vanino-Magadan line operates "Pioner Moskvy" type vessels, as well as Ro-Lo vessels which intended both for horizontal and vertical loading (m/v Lyutoga). All the vessels are fully equipped for container carriages.
In winter period the route of a vessel varies from that in summer. In winter, liner vessels pass through the Tsugaru Strait around Hokkaido Island. In summer, vessels pass through the La Perouse Strait around Sakhalin Island (if weather permits, the return route of vessels with easy loads may pass directly from Magadan through Sakhalin Strait and the Amurskiy estuary). Accordingly, duration of summer voyages is much less than winter ones.
Liner vessels perform either interport water transportation of cargos or multimodal transportation by railway and by sea (by virtue of the agreements having been concluded between SASCO and Russian Railroad).
This line delivers both ordinary container cargoes, and cargoes requiring specific handling, such as hazardous and reefer cargoes.
In 1999, Vanino-Magadan line resumed its operation. Now, the line performs one voyage per week. Duration of round voyage is two weeks.
Vanino-Magadan line connects the port of Vanino in eastern coast of Khabarovsk Region with port of Magadan in the northern coast of the Sea of Okhotsk.

Magadan is an important center for trade, transportation regional servicing and procurement. The biggest marine trading port of Russian North-East is located in Nagayeva Bay, which is opened all year round owing to ice-breaker assistance.
